Lovers at The Masque, this Friday ..

Dynamic synth pop trio LOVERS grace the venue with their presence, this Friday 2nd December.

The Portland based band are emotionally intense, singing about female friendship, sexuality and evolution. Since 2001, songwriter Carolyn Berk has established her unique voice as Lovers with four acclaimed, haunted and heart-broken albums.

Their new album, Dark Light, begins with singer Carolyn’s confession, “Every time the music starts, I can feel my aching, shaking heart”, and from there, Lovers embark on a spiritual journey of inspired three-part harmonies, deep introspection, and next-wave humor.

    Support:

Introducing Emily & her Faves. On electric guitar and vocals is song writer, artist and quirky front girl, Emily. Her Faves on kooky drums and bass supply the backbones to her catchy psych-pop melody frilled songs in a heady 60’s mix up.

Dass Unser aka John Lippitt, Paul Draper and Gary Threlfall, are a synth driven eltro pop outfit, enhancing their tightly sequenced rhythms with deft touches of guitar and lush vocal harmonies.

Phantom Runners bonded over a lust for life and music, in late 2010. Ever since their first gig supporting Reverend & The Makers, the future has looked bright for Brighton based band. Praise for their live shows has been effusive and sincere.

    thephantomrunners:

Busy week next week for the lads from Phantom Towers. We’re loading up the mystery wagon and heading on a short jaunt around the country playing 3 shows in 3 different cities in 24 hours.

Friday sees the gang @ MASQUE in LIVERPOOL. Playing alongside the wonderful LOVERS of Portland, Oregon. Last time we were in Liverpool was so much fun, playing to a packed HEEBIE JEEBIES with the crowd really going for gold! In fact a little bit too much fun as we could barely keep our eyes open for our show the following day after attending a banging house party.

Saturday afternoon sees us in BIRMINGHAM playing at an exclusive houseparty alongside the fucking amazing SUMMER CAMP.

Finally Saturday evening we will be putting in an appearance at our former home town of OSWESTRY at COBBLES BISTRO BAR playing alongside our good friends A TRAITORS REMORSE and LITTLE ELECTRIC CHAIRS. Stoked to see everyone again and it will certainly be hot, sweaty and messy. Right up our street!

    Goldblade at The Masque - 2nd December;

The year, 1994.  The location, Manchester. John Robb, adjusting to the demise of his alt rock outfit The Membranes, resumed his music journalism and began to dabble in TV presenting …. but nothing could replace the primal adrenaline rush of live rock and roll.

He bumped in to percussionist Wayne Simmonds at a local gym, and after both realising a mutual passion for martial arts and punk rock, there was no turning back. They had to form a band.

They recruited like-minded musicians - bass player Keith Curtis from the Membranes, drummer Rob Haynes from industrial rockers Houndgod and guitarist Nick Hewitt. Together they rehearsed intensely for months, took part in a small european tour, replaced Hewitt with Jay Taylor, then entered the studio.

They released their debut album, Soul Power, to critical acclaim and the rest is as they say, history.

Since 1996, the line up may have been re-jigged, but the band have always maintained their second-to-non live reputation. These guys will continue to fight the Punk Rock war with swagger.

    Support comes from -

Rasta4eyes - who came together from the dole queues of the North West during the recession of 2008. With a new breed of reggae, punk and ska, they had their first release in 2009.

Chief - Since their earliest gigs in the pool’s DIY punk scene, the band have gathered a repuation for their energetic live shows, playing blisteringly fast melodic hardcore with clinic execution.

The Vermin Suicides - The only Punk Rock Calypso dub band in existence. Rehearsing in a smoke filled bunker on the docklands of Liverpool, The Vermin Suicides epitomize the past and future of the Dub/Punk sound.

    14+ show, tickets £6adv available here …

** Heebies basement will be throwing an aftershow party, so your night can continue into the wee hours. A free shot for all ticket holders, cheap drinks (we mean REALLY cheap drinks, all £2.50 or less!) and some boss tunes.

It’s a Friday night, so why not?!**

Seven Years Behind: How to Promote And Market Your Band Online Without Feeling Dirty Afterwards

    sevenyearsbehind:

So, I am here to tell you about promotion and marketing, specifically in the online world. As we all know, online is where it’s at, baby. No longer is it cool, hip and fly to terrorise your local neighbourhood with fliers, (though that isn’t to say you can’t get creative IRL, but that’s not what…

Misty’s Big Adventure ‘Fashion Parade’ feat Noddy Holder ..

‘All the boys in the club love the fashion parade
And the girls in the club love the fashion parade
And the people at the top love the fashion parade
People at the top lead the fashion parade

But I am telling you now that it’s a bland age
Telling you now that it’s a bland age
And the people at the top love the bland age
Yep the people at the top lead the bland age
Where nothing means a lot and now nothing’s all we’ve got in the bland age

Well I’m feeling out of place in the fashion parade
And you’ll never see my face in the fashion parade
There’s a revival every minute in the fashion parade
Cause there’s a lot of money in it in the fashion parade

But I am telling you now that it’s a bland age
Telling you now that it’s a bland age
And we’ve got to get out of the bland age
Yes we’ve got to out of this bland age
Where nothing means a lot and now nothing’s all we’ve got in the bland age

    - Hey everyone, I just got back from the record store and I’ve got a load of post punk records!
    - Oh yeah?
    - Yeah, well, see I’ve been thinking about it for a while. Here’s what we’re gonna do…
    - What?
    - Listen to them, and then rip them off!
    - Yeeeeeeesss!
    - And I reckon we’ll make a ton of money.
    - A ton of money?
    - A ton of money.
    - A ton of money?
    - Yeah, a ton of money!
    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Lots of money, lots and lots of money! [x8]

Where nothing means a lot and now nothing’s all we’ve got in the bland age

“So the group had made it at last. Ambitions realised and they went from strength to strength. Fans and critics joined in their appreciation of their highly original sound and cookery columns followed. But one morning, they woke up, and they weren’t popular anymore. The arrival on the scene of 500 new bands sounding exactly the same had destroyed their credibility. The press lost interest, the label dropped them. And the manager… Disapeared… With the money.”

Lost the money, gone and lost the money! [x4]

“So what’ll I do now? Move home to my parents, sign on again, maybe spend all my dole money on Britpop records. Make a whole new genre out of Britpop records, yeah!”

Where nothing means a lot and now nothing’s all they’ve got in the bland age …’
